Hello Fediverse! This is my #introduction .
I am an educator of indeterminate age from the high, cold, beautiful #mountains of North Park in Northern #Colorado - fifth gen #ranching family on stolen #Ute and #Arapahoe land.
It is an isolated existence up here, being who I am, and I’m hoping to find a larger #community .
After a truce, constant #Israeli airstrikes have resumed; #food and #water are scarce. Nowhere feels safe.
#palestine #israel #news
Thousands of palestinians seen in this horrifying video fighting to get some bread for their families.
Gaza is facing an imminent and acute #famine because of the Israeli attack against them.
The few food trucks allowed into #Gaza by Israel are like drops of water in an ocean.
With over a million people in the south and some 700 000 people in the north with no access to #food, #water or #medicine, the #catastrophe of Israel barbaric bombing of the besieged cities is turning into a man made catastrophe like we have not seen before.

Death at #TaylorSwift concert: it wasn't just the heat.
It was the heat on top of the profit making.
"According to concert-goers, screens covered vents in the usually airy stadium, seemingly to prevent people outside from getting a peek of the show.
The grass pitch was covered with metal sheeting which had heated up in the sun.
The audience were banned from bringing in their own food and #water; 300ml cups inside the venue were expensive and hard to get a hold of."
“Palestinians are forbidden from gathering rain water for domestic or agricultural needs.”
– Third Periodic Report of Israel’s violations of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights with regard to the human rights to water and sanitation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory
But, yes, this all started on October 7, 2023.
Article 7 of the Rome Statute stipulates that “cutting off civilians from basic supplies – such as food, medicine, drinking water, which is essential for the daily life of the people – is a crime against humanity”.

Last week road finds stuff people dispose of outside, all perfectly legal, btw:
One office chair in better condition than the one I picked up a few years ago.
Two bikes Apollo brand, one good for refitting, one for spares.
One complete fish tank (without fish)
One powerful water pump for large tank.
So far so good, tested the lot all working.
There’s a Big Problem With Your Car’s Tires
"Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency formally acknowledged the ecological damage wreaked by tire pollution. The agency announced that it would investigate the toxicity of 6PPD, a necessary step toward a potential ban on its widespread use in tire manufacturing. According to knowledgeable people I checked with, this is the first time that a federal agency has formally considered tires’ ecological harm. At long last, the U.S. is thinking beyond the tailpipe to examine hidden ways that cars befoul the planet."
To Fight Microplastic Pollution, EU Needs Strong Tyre Emissions Legislation
"Every year, about two billion tyres are produced worldwide."
"EVs have about 20 per cent higher tyre wear emissions because they're typically 400kgs heavier."

Spring brings out many things, and one of these is water. Melting snow from warming days finds its way into the rivers, and in a short amount of time, what is usually a bubbling stream turns into a rushing, raging river -- so powerful that it moves even boulders. Awesome.

Tablets used to delay periods can cause negative side effects but without access to water and hygiene products, women in Gaza say they have no choice but to use them.
" In other words, the elimination of Hamas from #Gaza is the fig leaf for clearing Gaza of all #Palestinians permanently. It would be impossible to resume #water supplies or operate a #hospital with no #electricity.
It’s been obvious this is the plan. The #Israelis are now making it official. So why are officials and pundits mincing words? "

and in smashing good #freshwater news
"Engineers designed a solar #desalination system that passively turns seawater into drinking water. It circulates water in swirling eddies which drives water to evaporate and leave salt behind. The resulting water vapor can be condensed and collected while the leftover salt circulates out of the device.
"This year has been a devastating reminder of the power and menace of #water. Water scientists have a saying that if #climate change is a shark, water will be the teeth. Now the world is being bitten, with news every day of extreme storms and killer floods." Peter Gleick
