Streetartwall. On the facade of a high-rise building is sprayed / painted a touching mural of a woman in intimate embrace with a baby. The background is kept in gray. On it in light gray, white and black is a portrait of an almost naked, dark-haired woman. She is seen sideways and half wrapped in a white cloth. Her arms are wrapped around her. Her head is tilted towards a baby lying in her arms. She looks at it longingly. Behind it a yellow moon is painted and underlines the dramatic mood. Info: The mural was designed for an organization for cancer patients. The Artist about the Mural: "Someone most close to me got diagnosed with terminal cancer when I decided to put all my heart and soul into this project. The final result was a complete TV show on the biggest dutch channel. The show was completely designed around the creation of the mural, inspired by cancer patients Pim, Ilse and Kelly. With doing so, big amounts of money were raised for cancer research.... "

Streetart. A mural painted on an old abandoned grain silo. The mural is 200 feet tall and shows an older gentleman standing to the side, in trousers and shirt, looking at the sky. The colors are white, black and gray. The gray is very similar to the gray of the silo and thus connects the mural with the building. In the background is blue sky and in the foreground are bare branches. Info: An abandoned concrete silo looms over The Nations neighborhood, eerie and empty. The historic Nashville landmark was nearly torn down. Instead, it’s becoming the centerpiece of the community’s redevelopment. A 15-story painting is unfolding, revealing an elderly man who lived nearly all his life within sight of the silo. The artist is Australian Guido Van Helten, an internationally acclaimed muralist known for large-scale portraits that are so realistic they look like they could be oversized photographs. He uses a nearly black and white paint palette, allowing the gritty emotion of his subject to come through. And he likes to make a statement by painting local people. For "the Nations" , Van Helten chose 91-year-old Lee Estes, known to friends as LD. He has called this neighborhood home since the late 1920s.
