Looks like #Mastodon will surpass 12 MILLION accounts over the next few hours.
For context, #twitter apparently has MORE than one BILLION accounts, and #bluesky has FEWER than one hundred THOUSAND accounts.
These are not active user numbers but give a decent picture of relative platform size.
One huge difference is that unlike Twitter and Bluesky, Mastodon is not owned by #oligarchs.
