deemix has had all of it's repositories removed from Codeberg because of a DMCA takedown. This includes forks. There was nothing illegal in this repository.
Some may blame Codeberg for honoring the takedown, but please remember: they have to. I'm sure they know fully that nothing illegal was there, but even so, they must honor the takedown requests or face losing their safe harbor protections. Codeberg didn't write the laws, media companies did.
If they had the money and resources, I'm sure the people behind Codeberg would fight it. But they don't, and they can't.
This is horrible, but a tiny, non-profit, freedom focused GitTea instance is not to blame. It's the companies who wrote the DMCA and the politicians who passed it. This is one of the many places Free Software and politics overlap.
